This week I am doing a bit of reflection, today is my last day as a Research Associate at the Centre for Culture, Sport and Events as I am parting ways to take up a full time post at the University of Glasgow. Although I only work a day a week for CCSE, I have been involved in a lot of projects over the last 2 years at the Centre, and even before then when I started my academic journey at UWS. I was asked to write a short farewell blog, so here I’ll share a few of my highlights over my time at UWS.
In the early spring, plans for our upcoming Annual Symposium – to be hosted at the University in May, 2020 – we well underway. And then, the COVID19 pandemic arrived.
By the end of March, 2020 we – based at UWS – along with colleagues from across our networks of collaborators, stakeholders and associates were finding our feet in the ‘new normal.’ For many of us, this included working from home for the foreseeable future. (more…)
The passage of time has been a somewhat strange – or at least, stranger – thing to experience in 2020 than is usually the case. It is nevertheless heartening to look back over the academic year through the lens of the posts that we’ve been able to publish on the CCSE blog. (more…)
Today (9 September) marks the launch of the new #CCSEConversations sessions! As we are unable to carry out our usual regular programme of in person seminars and symposium due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we decided to launch a new series of online conversations, centred around our CCSE themes. CCSE’s Colombian PhD student and associate researcher, Greis Cifuentes has – at the age of 31 – been chosen as the new Development Director for the Fundación Nacional Batuta (FNB) in Colombia. Batuta has a presence in all 32 of the country’s administrative departamentos. FNB serves more than 38,000 children and young people from vulnerable populations providing first-rate musical training which focuses on collective practice from a perspective of social inclusion, rights and cultural diversity.
